Work Health and Safety Advisor - Part time

5 days per fortnight (negotiable)

 

  • Own and deliver systems and processes
  • Make a difference to WHS compliance and initiatives

About Synapse:

Synapse is a national organisation dedicated to reconnecting the lives of those affected by a neurocognitive disability. We do this through excellence in services delivered with integrity, fairness and a vision for what the future for people with neurocognitive disability could be.

 

Synapse is commitment to partnering with stakeholders across Australia to reduce the costs of neurocognitive disability to individuals, carers, families, communities and society, across the lifespan. This direction is underpinned by three core priority areas;

About the role

As part of the People and Culture team, you will be responsible for working collaboratively across multiple sites to provide technical and practical expert support, and guidance as follows:

 

WH&S

  • maintain a safety culture focused on risk reduction/management,
  • ownership of injury prevention and continual improvement
  • implement a range of national WHS systems, policies processes
  • facilitate risk reduction training programs
  • input into worker's compensation and return to work plans as appropriate, and
  • educate and raise the awareness of WH&S best practice
  • develop and maintain WH&S systems and records, including regular reporting

 

 

About the successful applicants

As the successful applicants you must display the following skills and experience:

  • Disability sector experience,
  • Proven experience in driving a safety culture, with the ability to demonstrate creativity and initiative,
  • Demonstrated experience in designing and administering systems and reporting processes,
  • Demonstrated experience in providing strategic and operational input into best practice business processes,
  • Demonstrated experience in change management and communication of improved process and strategy,
  • Relevant tertiary level qualifications,
  • Well-developed interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills with attention to detail,
  • Proficient working knowledge of MS Office Suite and WH&S systems capability, and
  • Ability to travel interstate as and when required.
