Over the past 35 years, Synapse-Australia's Brain Injury Organisation, has grown to employ around 120 people.  We provide a range of services, including information and referral, specialist supports, National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) services, advocacy, housing and targeted research activities.  Synapse promotes quality of life, self-determination and choice.  Our mission is to ensure the rights of people impacted by brain injury, by connecting knowledge, policy, services and systems. The NDIS is currently being implemented nationally, creating a remarkable opportunity for you to be at the forefront of change as a part of the Synapse team.

 

About the role:

Working closely with the Qld Manager Information Capability and a team of Support Coordinators, the Team Leader Synapse Options is responsible for establishing, growing; and implementing Support Coordination services across QLD (based in Brisbane).   The Team Leader will be responsible for all components of Support Coordination including mentoring their team and ensuring services are delivered to NDIS participants, allowing each participant full choice and control. 

 

Essential Requirements for this exciting opportunity include:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Social Work, Occupational Therapy or a similar Allied Health field with eligibility for professional registration with the relevant body
  • Experience in a leadership role in the human services sector including disability, health, family support or another similar service area.
  • Experience in monitoring and reporting on team outputs, KPIs and financial results.
  • A solid understanding of the NDIS; particularly in relation to support coordination and connection, and the importance of choice and control for customers.
  • Demonstrated experience in working with people with disabilities, preferably neurocognitive disorders, and individuals who exhibit challenging behaviours.  In particular, experience in collaborating with family members or decision makers.
  • Highly developed written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills including conflict resolution, negotiation and problem solving.
