In 2010, Sam Goddard was left in a vegetative state. His fiancée Sally stood by him, and her determination led to a discovery that unlocked Sam's damaged brain.

On Valentines Day 2010, a "bomb" went off in Sam Goddard's brain- he was 23 and suffered 8 consecutive strokes. Doctors gave him a five precent chance of survival, but his fiancée Sally Nielsen refused to give upon the man she was meant to marry three months later. Instead she hit the internet and started doing her own research. Now Sam takes Stillnox several times a day with each dose enabling him to communicate virtually normally for 45-60 minutes.

Here, with Sally acting as his scribe, Sam, now 26, explains what it's like to be trapped in a body after a stroke........
