Ken Hall: My story, my book.

Ken Hall is a man living with ABI. He is also the subject of a biographical book titled: "What next you Bastard" written by Monika Mc Ferran.

Synapse Community Response recently received a phone call from Ken expressing his desire to raise awareness about this book and to share his insight with others about what it is like to live with an ABI.

In Ken's words, "I was brain damaged in 1948, have no short term memory, no schooling after turning 8 and could not get a job in the work force as no-one wanted a man that was brain damaged. I wrote my life story in 2000. Would love to tell all what hell it is to live in a world where you cannot read or spell, so please read my book".....

"My childhood was very short. It ended soon after my twelfth birthday in early 1952". Thus begins this most extraordinary biography.

"Ken Hall is the quintessence of the ordinary Aussie bloke, but there is nothing ordinary about his courage, strength and determination. This is a moving story, yet has nothing of the tragic about it. Rather, it reads like a rollicking yarn full of larrakin gusto, occassionally angry, mostly very funny, and without a trace of self-pity", says the Authour Monika Mc Ferran.

Together Ken and Monika worked for two years to produce this book which saw Monika shape the raw material of Ken's life, while fully retaining Ken's unique voice.
