Lead with purpose: Synapse is seeking our next Board Chair

The Opportunity

Are you an experienced NFP Board Chair or Deputy Chair looking for a new voluntary opportunity to make a real difference in our community? Synapse, Australia’s brain injury organisation, is looking for its next Board Chair to lead an experienced and committed Board of Directors in stewarding the organisation.

About Us

Synapse is a leading organisation supporting people living with brain injury, as well as their families, carers and communities. Working at Synapse means being part of a value-led team making a real difference in the lives of people living with brain injury.

As Australia’s brain injury organisation, we are proud of our leading knowledge, which underpins everything we do to support the 1 in 45 Australians living with brain injury. It can happen to anyone, touching every demographic, culture, age and region. Brain injury has a deep and underestimated impact on society, including domestic and family violence, youth and criminal justice, and homelessness.

Synapse supports people living with brain injury through information and referral, individual and systemic advocacy, housing, training and research. We work alongside Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander communities to develop culturally safe tools, for example, housing and brain injury screenings, to better support individuals and their communities.

About the Role

As Board Chair, you will lead the Board to function effectively and efficiently in its oversight of the organisation; foster a culture aligned with Synapse Australia’s values; work closely with the CEO, conveying the Board’s expectations and representing the organisation to key strategic stakeholders.

Further information is available in the role description.
