Kathy Rees
Kathy Rees and her daughter Belinda “B” Buckler were in a freak car accident in a flooded causeway in 1983 that left B with an Acquired Brain Injury.
B was left blind, non-verbal and a quadriplegic. But being told to take Belinda home to die was like “waving a red flag in front of a bull” to Kathy. Fighting a battle for her daughter that lasted 38 years, Kathy was eventually able to help Belinda reach her dream of living in her own home.
This month, we acknowledge the tireless work of carers like Kathy: those who are able to provide manual assistance, those who manage changing emotions and those who advocate for their loved ones.
